If any of the questions or affirmations posed on my home page resonate with you, I can say that I’ve lived it all! I AM the mature professional (retired corporate attorney) who has transitioned many times vocationally and personally during my life, as well as confronted the blocks that held me back from creative pursuits — all to to get to a (more than less) consistent inner peace.  I’ve delved deeply into many self-actualization and spiritual psychologies, expertises, practices and thoroughly understand the field, as a coach, learner and writer. I’ve done much “inner work” and have pinpointed the means toward the most impactful realizations. I’ve also lived deeply and performed successfully for decades in the “middle world” of a highly pressured, competitive  corporate life as a business and legal professional for decades. I’ve navigated challenges, as a Black woman, through tough academic programs at premier educational institutions and organizations, including achieving degrees from a Big Ten university, the top U.S. law school, and an Ivy business school and have had long professional tenures in several publicly held companies in addition to top law firms.

As a sensitive creative who felt repressed to “go for it,” I  grappled for decades to satisfy that part of me that loves to create and also deepen my love of human psychology. I did incorporate that love into a highly successful legal career — counseling and supporting leaders in achieving their corporate and business development goals. Most importantly, I learned how to reconcile, with a growing elegance, who I am into what I do, whether as a legal professional or a personal development coach and guide. I created the “sweet spot” that allowed me to truly be me within the legal profession and to excel with an unexpected satisfaction. Leaving the corporate legal world, I have poured myself into my great love of guiding and helping others to generate their own solutions to their most grappling issues.

I understand deeply the pragmatic challenges of vocation – to earn a living coupled with the inner desire and need to self-actualize. I’ve experienced change in big ways, that have taken me all over the country to live, as well as the experience of deep grief due to losses of closely held loved ones. Finally, I am, like many others in or near my generation, seeking new life adventures through “Re-wirement,” “Re-firement” and Reinvention in response to the traditional aging images “Retirement” present. 

In addition to this work,  I am also engaged, with great excitement, in several creative projects.  I write now and create all kinds of “stuff” without bounds or the burden of perfectionism. Of course, it is still a journey, and when I stumble or fall, or momentarily doubt myself,  I fully trust that I have the inner authority and the resilient strength, built through the processes I wish to share with you and others, to rise and begin again.

On a personal note, I am a pretty happy person with loads of given and received love in her life. I am committed to and am passionate about engaging deeply with and supporting people seeking to truly discover and know themselves thoroughly, and to bravely examine the recurring issues which get in the way of experiencing more joy, satisfaction and inner peace, with special attention to true vocation, transition and creativity.

So, what does “Meraki”mean?

“Meraki” is a Greek word which means the Art or State of Infusing the Essence (or Soul) of Who You Really Are into What You Do and How You Live. 

It is a generic concept which, practically, as I’ve learned, is infused in nearly every intention of a client who is requesting coaching.

We get alienated over time from that “essence” and can find ourselves struggling to recapture it, much less remember it.  Meraki, like “mojo,” evokes for me, that personal, divine inner magic that gives rise to the expression of our own unique self-expression and contributions.

By the way, you may also wonder why I call myself a Professional Muse?

My goal is to inspire, ignite and gently provoke you into unearthing your own vital and creative treasures within, release what holds you back and come “alive” in your Work and Life.   Setting you up for success to create your best choices and your best life is my best end game as your professional muse.
